Using Your CPAP System: Common Problems and Solutions
How do I turn
my therapeutic device on and off?
-
Press the
On/Off or Start/Stop Button on the top right of the device to
start the airflow.
-
Adjust the
mask and headgear until you have a comfortable fit and there is
no airflow leaking into your eyes or making hissing sounds.
-
Press the
Ramp Button on the top of the machine to start the ramp cycle.
This reduces the pressure initially and allows you to fall
asleep with less resistance. The air pressure will gradually
increase over 15-30 minutes until your prescription pressure is
reached.
-
If you are
using a heated humidifier, press, hold for a few seconds, and
release the Humidifier Button. You will see the humidifier icon
appear in the screen on your machine and / or a light will go on
close to the warmer.
Why does my mouth, nose and
throat feel too dry when I wake up?
- This is a sign that your
humidifier setting is too low, or that you have problems keeping
your mouth closed or there is a leak of air around the mask. You
may need to change your humidification setting. To do this,
refer to your User Manual or call Sleepcare Diagnostics.
Alternatively, you may need to adopt strategies to keep your
mouth closed or have your mask switched. Contact Sleepcare for
help.
Why is there fluid in my mask?
- This is a sign that either
your humidifier setting is too high, or you might have filled
your humidifier chamber with water above the "fill" line.
Why do I hear a "glubbing" noise
in the tubing connected to my mask
- This is also a sign that
either your humidifier setting is too high, or you might have
filled your humidifier chamber with water above the "fill" line.
How do I clean my equipment?
- Refer to your Accessory
Cleaning Instructions that you received from Sleepcare
Diagnostics.
My machine worked earlier today,
but at bedtime it would not work. What could be wrong?
- Your power cord might be
plugged into an outlet that is connected to a light switch that
controls the power to that outlet. If so, plug it into a
different outlet. Be sure to use a surge protector.
Sometimes when I travel or when
I return home from traveling my machine won't turn on properly.
- Try unplugging the cord and
then plugging it back in. Sometimes the machine simply needs to
be "reset" and doing this may fix the problem.
